Orin Lavern Schiro, age 78, of Lester Prairie, died Saturday, May 3, 2008, at Presbyterian Home in Spring Lake Park.
He was born Jan. 12, 1930, in Litchfield, the son of Arthur and Gustie Ewert Schiro. Orin was baptized as an infant at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Buffalo Lake.
At 12 years of age, Orin’s family moved to Clarissa, Minn. As a young man, Orin worked construction in Clarissa.
Orin was joined in holy marriage to Beverly J. Jensen June 6, 1964, at the United Methodist Church in Henning, Minn.
They moved to Minneapolis, and Orin worked for the next five years at Joe Whitney Construction. He later was employed at Turner Excavating in Savage for many years as a heavy equipment operator. Orin was forced to retire in 1989, due to health reasons.
Orin enjoyed carpentry, mowing lawn, fishing, and gardening, and he could fix just about everything.
He was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Hutchinson.
Orin also belonged to the International Union of Operating Engineers-Local No. 49.
He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly J. Schiro; two special little girls, Averie and Anyna; a sister, Florence Hieb of Hutchinson; and other relatives and friends. Orin especially loved his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Gustie Schiro; two brothers, Oliver and Orville Schiro; and by an infant sister, Irene Schiro.
Funeral services were Thursday, May 8 at 3 p.m. at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Hutchinson with the Rev. Greg Nelson officiating, preceded by two hours visitation. Interment followed at Oakland Cemetery in Hutchinson.
Casket bearers were William Schiro, Douglas Schiro, Michael Schiro, Edward Fuchs, Kenneth Bebo, and Douglas Bebo.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
