Alden E. Schlagel, age 78, of Punta Gorda, Fla. and Woodbury, Minn., died suddenly Tuesday, March 11, 2008.
A 1946 graduate of Howard Lake High School, Alden’s lifelong love of learning was evident by the many degrees he earned including a master’s degree in school administration at age 20, and a juris doctorate degree in 1958, from William Mitchell College of Law.
His passions in life included music, golf, and boating, but most importantly, spending time with family and friends.
Alden is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Betty; children, Mike (Lane) Schlagel, Debbie (Chris) Engel, Pat Schlagel, Julie (Rod) Anderson, Mary Beth (Gus) Hagberg, Stacy (Bob) Upton, Janet Blanshan, Jill Ressen, and Greta (Roger Zimmer) Mangnuson; and 17 grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial was Monday, March 17 at 10:30 a.m. at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Oakdale. Interment was at Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation was Sunday, March 16 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Wulff Woodbury Funeral Home, and continued Monday, one hour prior to the Mass at the church.
Arrangements were by the Wulff Woodbury Funeral Home in Woodbury.
