Elaine Marie Sedlacek Obituary – 10/05/08

Elaine Marie Sedlacek, age 45, Castle Rock, CO, formerly of Darwin, passed away peacefully in her home Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008, at 7 a.m., surrounded by family and friends.

Elaine was born in New Haven, CT Sept. 30, 1963. She grew up in Darwin, and moved to Castle Rock, CO. nine years ago from Albuquerque, NM.

Elaine and Wally were married Aug. 5, 1996, at Lake Arvilla in Dassel.

Elaine served 10 years on active duty with the United States Navy, and six years in the Naval Reserve, serving in Washington, DC and Pearl Harbor, HI. She was awarded the Joint Commendation, Navy Commendation, and Navy Achievement medals.

She received her bachelor of science degree in food sciences from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.

Elaine was a beautiful woman who enjoyed life and never wanted to rush, but instead wanted to enjoy the journey. One of her great joys in life was sampling the best the culinary world had to offer. She was most grateful for the opportunity to live in Munich, Germany for two years with her husband, Wally, where she made many friends and enjoyed many wonderful travel opportunities.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Walter (“Wally”) D. Sedlacek, Commander, U.S. Navy (retired); her father and mother, Frank L. and Dolores M. Orzolek; brother Frank (Terri) G. Orzolek and their sons Mark and Steven of Darwin; and her beloved stepdaughters and best friends, Rebecca (Philip) Craycraft, Kerrie Sims, Nicole Allen, Kristin (Jerry) Vowell, and their children.

Services were Thursday, Oct. 9 at 11 a.m. at Olinger Andrews Caldwell Gibson Funeral Home in Castle Rock, CO with visitation from 9 to 11 a.m.

Elaine’s wish was that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society in order to continue the fight she had carried on for the past two years.

Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Olinger Andrews Caldwell Gibson Funeral Home, Castle Rock, CO.
