Neil Kenneth Seiffert Obituary – 10/16/08


Neil Kenneth Seiffert, age 68, of (French Lake) Annandale, died peacefully Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008, at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Funeral service is today, Oct. 20 at 2 p.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in French Lake, with Pastor Edward Groop officiating. Private family interment will follow at Our Saviors Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation was Sunday, Oct. 19 from 4 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at the Swanson Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato, and continues today for one hour prior to the service at the church.

The Swanson Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato is handling the arrangements.

Neil was born Feb. 2, 1940, in Darwin on the family farm to Henry and Evelyn (Hawkinson) Seiffert. He graduated from Litchfield High School in 1958.

He farmed in Darwin until he met Kathy Leinonen and they married April 22, 1972, in French Lake. He then bought John Leinonen’s farm and that is where Neil and Kathy raised their family and currently reside.

Neil also worked at First District in Litchfield and dug graves in the Cokato/French Lake area for many years.

Neil enjoyed his Belgian horses, old time machinery, ice fishing and deer hunting, cutting wood, being the sexton at Riverside Cemetery, and a good cup of coffee.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy; children, Ryan Seiffert (Ghislaine) of Fayetteville, NC, Aaron Seiffert (Shannon) and granddaughter Evelyn of Annandale, and Hollie Van Nurden (Jesse) of Hutchinson; sister Faye (Jamie) Wheeler of Nevada; and his mother Evelyn of Nevada, formerly of Litchfield.

Neil was preceded in death by his father, Henry Seiffert; brother Gene Seiffert; and sister Janet Prag.
