Miranda Alvina Smith, age 93, of Litchfield, died Monday, Sept. 15, 2008, at the Meeker Memorial Hospital.
She was born July 6, 1915, in Eden Township, Stearns County, the daughter of Edward and Emma (Blaurock) Kelm. Miranda grew up and received her education in the Eden Valley area.
She was united in marriage to Harry Smith Jan. 16, 1936. They made their home in Litchfield, where they built many homes together.
Miranda had a passion for cleaning offices and homes in the area. The families that she cleaned for became an extension of hers. She helped with many household duties and taking care of the children and their activities.
Miranda was an active member of the United Methodist Church.
She was a wonderful homemaker, and enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends, as well as gardening and traveling.
She is survived by her daughter, Harriet (Duane) Prieve of Litchfield; son Duane (Noni) Smith of Dassel; grandchildren Kimberly (Charles) Young and Kelli (Dave) Flammang; great-grandchildren Emma, Maddi, Molly, Erin, and Adam; a sister, Lilian Wendroth of Eden Valley; and other relatives and friends.
Miranda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry; a daughter, Phyllis Smith; and an infant son, Delmar.
The funeral service took place Friday, Sept. 19 at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Litchfield with visitation for one hour prior to the service at the church. The Rev. Bill Kerr officiated, and interment was in Lake Ripley Cemetery.
