Douglas D. Sommerfeld Obituary – 02/17/08


Douglas D. Sommerfeld, age 50, of Watertown, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008, at home, after a two-year battle with lung cancer.

He was employed at Lyman lumber for over 30 years, where he recently received the Chairman Award for $100 million in career sales.

Doug’s hobbies included softball, snowmobiling, hobby farming, collecting anything John Deere, and spending weekends at the cabin with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Gail; sons Derrick and Taylor of Watertown, and Jarod Worth (Lindsay) of Buffalo; daughters Jessica Peter (Brad) of Mayer, and Betty June at home; five grandchildren: Dillon Sommerfeld, Brianna and Madison Peter, and Chase and Cole Worth; sisters Deb (Jim) Stapek of Minnetonka, and Diane (Brad) Parks of Plymouth; and many other loving relatives and friends.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and June Sommerfeld.

Funeral services were Friday, Feb. 22 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Watertown with the Rev. Beth Johnson officiating.

Arrangements were by the Iten’s Watertown Funeral Home.
