Ruth L. Stahlke, age 83, of Delano and Spring Park, Minn., died Saturday, March 22, 2008, at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
She was born Nov. 1, 1924, to Louis and Florence (Boch) Becker in Delano.
Ruth graduated from Buffalo High School, and then, the St Cloud State Teachers College with a bachelor’s degree, as well as continuing on in other post graduate work. She taught public school for 25 years and was a favorite teacher to many.
Ruth met Dwain Stahlke in 1943, and was united in marriage with him in 1946. This union produced four children, eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, with one on the way.
Ruth and Dwain started Stahlke Bus Service in 1948, and ran it for 35 years before their daughter and son-in-law took over. Ruth and Dwain also partnered in several other business endeavors.
Ruth loved her family and friends and was always happy to see them. She and Dwain loved to travel and took many trips throughout the world. They enjoyed winters in Florida at their condo in Panama City Beach.
Ruth loved to bake, knit, sew, and do crossword puzzles. Her children and grandchildren always looked forward to her carmel rolls, cookies, and carmel corn.
Ruth was active in her faith. She enjoyed volunteering for altar guild, women’s club, cooking, and any other service that her church needed.
She is survived by her husband, Dwain; children Steve and Sue Stahlke, Jim and Kay Stahlke, Julie and Mel Bernick, and Beth and Len Logsdon; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Bill and Kay Becker; and sisters-in-law Pauline Becker and Irene Stahlke.
Memorial services took place Monday, March 24 at the Cross Lutheran Church in Rockford with the Rev. Michael Barlow officiating.
Arrangements were by the Iten Funeral Home in Delano.
