Helen M. Stahlke Obituary – 04/04/08


Helen M. Stahlke, age 72, of Waconia, died Friday, April 4, 2008, at her home.

She was born Sept. 18, 1935, in Watertown Township, the daughter of John J. and Louise C. (Biersdorf) Hill. Helen was baptized Oct. 13, 1935, at Zion Lutheran Church in Mayer by the Rev. F. W. Erthal, and confirmed by the same April 10, 1949.

Helen was united in marriage to Larry L. Stahlke Oct. 9, 1954, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Watertown.

Helen enjoyed golfing gardening, and interior decorating. She was very gifted, and could create many beautiful designs with her hands.

An avid bridge player, Helen belonged to several groups. She cherished and was devoted to the two cats she loved to be around.

Helen was preceded in death by her infant son; parents John and Louise Hill; and sister Lorraine Arvidson.

She is survived by her loving family: husband Larry Stahlke of Waconia; son and daughter-in-law Stuart and Cheryl Stahlke of New Germany; grandchildren Benjamin Stahlke, and Shauntel Stahlke; sisters and brother-in-law Harriet and Robert Johnson of Watertown, and Lois Gatz of Waconia; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Elaine Stahlke of Eden Prairie, Lowell and Charlotte Stahlke of Waconia, and Donna and James Harriman of Waconia; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.

Funeral service was Tuesday, April 8 at 11:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia with the Rev. Peter Peitsch officiating. Interment was at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Paul Johnson, David Johnson, Steve Gatz, Benjamin Stahlke, Shauntel Stahlke, and Mark Bender.
