Marie D. Stuemke Obituary – 06/24/08


Marie D. Stuemke, age 93, of New Germany, died Tuesday June 24, 2008, at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.

She was born Sept. 23, 1914, in Blue Earth County, the daughter of Herman and Emma (Bruhns) Voges. Marie was baptized in October of 1914 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Amboy by the Rev. Rhinehart, and confirmed by the same June 19, 1928.

Marie was united in marriage to Milton H. L. Stuemke Sept. 23, 1938, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Danneth Township, Waseca County, by the Rev. Edward Dicke.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton; father and mother, Herman and Emma Voges; sisters Emma Voges and Viola Jacobsen; and brother Harold Voges.

Marie is survived by her loving family: children and spouses Wayne and Evey Stuemke of Waseca, Karen and Ralph Unglaub of Mayer, Dale and Jeanne Stuemke of Lakeway, Texas, and Mavis and Roger Sonnek of Eagle Lake; grandchildren Robin and Bob Carlson, Michael and Jayne Unglaub, Dawn Taylor, Christine and Randy Pietsch, DeeAnn and Steve Voshell, David Sonnek and fiancée Cindi Orr, Jay and Deeanna Stuemke, Pamela Stuemke, Heidi and David Olsen, and Joel and Leigh Stuemke; and great-grandchildren Bethany, Matthew, Alex, Timothy, Amy, Jacob, Madeline, Rachel, Adam, Branden, Jake, Amber, Morgan, Rosemary, Faith, Mason, Katie, Caleb, Connor and Alexa.

She is further survived by her sister, Audrey Cooper of Mankato; brothers and sister-in-law Lyle Voges of Minnesota Lake, and Carl and Phyllis Voges of Bricelyn; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Frederick and Rosella Stuemke of Mankato; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral service was Saturday, June 28 at 2 p.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany with the Rev. Allen Holthus officiating. Interment followed at St. Mark Lutheran Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Michael Unglaub, David Sonnek, Jay Stuemke, Joel Stuemke, Bob Carlson, Randy Pietsch, Steve Voshell, and David Olsen.
