Phronsie A. Swanson Obituary – 07/03/08


Phronsie A. Swanson, age 87, of Hutchinson, died Thursday, July 3, 2008, at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.

A memorial service is set for Saturday, July 19 at 11 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson with the Rev. Greg Tobison officiating. A time to gather with family will be offered one hour prior to the service at the church. A private family inurnment will take place at the Dassel Cemetery.

Phronsie was born March 13, 1921, in Litchfield, the daughter of Willie F. and Alvina (Prieve) Dornsbach. She grew up on the family farm south of Litchfield, and graduated from the Litchfield High School.

Phronsie was united in marriage to Victor L. Swanson. They made their home on Lake Washington until 1960, when they built the Swanson Truck Stop in Hutchinson.

Phronsie gave of her time to many organizations in the area. She enjoyed needle work, crocheting, did plastic canvas work, and made many ornaments over the years.

She is survived by her children, Jeanette (Jim Brown) Johnson, Vicki (Bill) Buschmann, Philip (Susan) Swanson, Victor LeRoy Swanson, and Jerald Swanson; stepchildren, Ardythe (Jim) Ryan, Vincent James (Ann) Swanson, Virgil Allen (Yvonne) Swanson, Nancy (Dave) Koelln, Margaret (Myron) Janke, and Thomas (Cloe) Swanson; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Phronsie was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three brothers; and one sister.

The Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel is handling the arrangements.
