Henry Peter “Heinie” Van Lith, age 82, of Buffalo, passed away peacefully Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008, one day shy of his 83rd birthday.
He was born Oct. 20, 1925, to Henry and Frances (Van Den Elsen) Van Lith in Milbank, SD.
Henry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Pam Matter; an infant daughter, Mary Jo; and an infant son, Kenny.
Henry is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Geri (Potvin); son Michael and Penny Van Lith; daughters Michele and Tom Theis, Janelle Van Lith, Linda and Greg Thompson, and Lisa Goodale and Ron Brown; grandchildren Heather, Jeff, Paul, Laura, Kristel, Eric, Garett, Cheryl, and Justin; great-grandchildren Leala, Josephina, Joshua, Rylie, Hannah, and Haley; son-in-law Dan Matter; a brother; and four sisters.
Mass of Christian Burial took place Friday, Oct. 24 at noon at the Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Loretto with the Rev. John Gallas officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Visitation was Thursday, Oct. 23 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Iten Funeral Home in Delano, with a rosary at 4 p.m. , and a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation continued Friday from 11 a.m. to noon at the church, prior to Mass.
Casket bearers were Jeff Holovnia, Paul Matter, Justin Goodale, Ron Brown, Greg Thompson, Tom Theis, Dan Matter, and Mike Van Lith.
Arrangements were by the Iten Funeral Home in Delano.
