Dorothy Marie (McDonald) Vidlund, age 83, of Watertown, died Wednesday, July 16, 2008.
Mass of Christian Burial will be today, July 21 at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown, preceded by visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Frank Wampach will officiate, and interment will be in the church cemetery.
Dorothy’s grandchildren are her casket bearers: Jerad Carlson, Kyle Carlson, Katie Carlson, Kelli Johnson, Rachel Erickson, Sarah Kroneberger, Matthew Kroneberger, and Emily Johnson.
Visitation also took place Sunday, July 20 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the church.
Arrangements are by the Iten’s Watertown Funeral Home.
Dorothy was born Oct. 17, 1924, in Waverly, to Kenneth and Margaret (Burns) McDonald.
She graduated from Watertown High School in 1942.
On June 27, 1953, Dorothy was united in marriage to ElRoy Vidlund at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown.
Dorothy enjoyed her family, her church, her friends, her Irish heritage, and her photo and comic albums. She will always be remembered for her sense of humor, her gentleness, and her dedication to faith and family.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, ElRoy; daughters Kathleen and Darrell Carlson of St. James, Mary Kroneberger of Willmar, and Jane Johnson of Comfrey; grandchildren Rachel Erickson, Sarah Kroneberger, Matthew Kroneberger, Jerad Carlson, Kyle Carlson, Katie Carlson, Kelli Johnson, and Emily Johnson; and great-grandchildren Kylee and Eliana Erickson.
She is further survived by brothers and sisters Margaret and Earl Borer, Rita McDonald, K.J. and Barb McDonald, Kate McDonald, Brigid McDonald, Philip and Abbie McDonald, and Jane McDonald; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Lois and Merle Mattson, Shirley and Roger Tatting, and Marge Vidlund; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Margaret McDonald; brothers Pat, Joe, and Ewan; brother-in-law Merlyn Vidlund; and son-in-law William “Bill” Johnson.
