Helen Yungk Obituary – 10/24/08


Helen Yungk, age 79, of Winsted passed away peacefully Friday, Oct. 24, 2008, at the Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park.

She was born Jan. 5, 1929, in Toronto, Canada, the daughter of Vinanizio and Maria Massaro.

Helen and Clinton Yungk were joined in holy marriage in 1952, in California. Clinton preceded her in death in 1981.

Helen enjoyed spending time with her family. She and her sister, Violet, loved to sing at nightclubs.

A faithful member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winsted, Helen will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by a daughter, Marilyn Handt; sons Barry Yungk and Raymond Yungk; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Albert (Jane) Massaro; sisters Violet (Al) Ortin and Terry (Joe) Freed; nieces;, nephews; and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, Helen was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Art; and two sisters, Sylvia and Betty.

Funeral services were Monday, Oct. 27 at 1 p.m. at the chapel at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted. The Rev. Gerald L. Boldt officiated, and interment followed at the Winsted Public Cemetery.

Friends called one hour prior to the services at the chapel.

The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
