Warren ‘Bud’ Baldwin, 79

Warren “Bud” Baldwin, age 79, of Loretto, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009, at his home.

Funeral services will take place Monday, Nov. 30 at 11 a.m. at the Jesus People Church, 10925 Trail Haven Road, Rogers, with viewing beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will be at the Elmwood Cemetery in Rockford.

Bud was born March 20, 1930, in Madelia, MN, the second of three children born to Murray and Anna (Wangen) Baldwin. He attended country school in Watonwan County, MN.

As a young man, Bud worked for a farm implement dealership.

He married Donna Mae Bjorkman April 4, 1950, in rural St. James, MN. To this union, three sons and one daughter were born. Bud and Donna celebrated 59 years of marriage together.

Bud poured his life into raising and spending time with his children. He taught them the art of lake fishing, ice fishing, hunting, and the way to the Lord.

Bud entered the US Army Jan. 11, 1952, and served during the Korean Conflict. While in the Army, Bud earned the S/S Badge, Korean Service Medal with two Battle Stars, The UN Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged Oct. 10, 1953.

Bud worked for and retired from Honeywell, where he worked as an assembly worker.

His calling in life from the Lord was to be a “Foster Daddy” for over 40 years. He was blessed with each child that needed his home.

Bud enjoyed spending time at Bible studies, men’s church retreats, and attending church. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, model railroading, watching the Minnesota Twins, and woodworking. Bud enjoyed making small gifts from wood for his family and friends.

He shared his love of the Minnesota Twins with his children and grandchildren. His grandchildren can recall time well spent at the Minnesota Twins baseball games and ice skating on the frozen lakes close to Grandpa Bud’s home, while Grandpa and their parents would ice fish.

Bud was preceded in death by his daughter, Elaine Baldwin; his parents; and his brother, Delvin Baldwin.

Bud is survived by his wife, Donna Mae; three sons: David (Cheri) Baldwin, Randal (Linda) Baldwin and Timothy (Carla) Baldwin; foster daughter Angeline (Shawn) and foster son Jeff; sister Marlene (Vic) Coleman; and sister-in-law Juanita Baldwin. The Lord blessed Bud with 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

The Peterson Chapel of Buffalo has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
