Richard L. Barnes, age 74, of Waconia, died Saturday, April 18, 2009, at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
He was born Jan. 13, 1935, in Alamosa, CO, the son of Coy W. and Anna Lee (Schmidt) Barnes.
Richard took great pleasure in woodworking, repairing his cars, the outdoors, especially camping, and he loved to travel. He was an all-around fix-it man.
Richard was preceded in death by his son, Todd Barnes; parents Coy and Anna Lee Barnes; and a brother, Coy Barnes.
He is survived by his loving family: wife Zina; children and spouses Brian and Susan Barnes of Watertown, Kevin and Christine Barnes of Pennsylvania, and Danna and John Lundregan of Watertown; and grandchildren Todd Barnes, Matthew Barnes, Michelle Barnes, Ian Barnes, Aubrey Barnes, Catherine Lundregan, Joshua Lundregan, and Andrew Lundregan.
Richard is further survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Margaret Barnes of California, Gena and Frank Doll of Michigan, and Max and Luvern Forrest of California; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
The funeral service took place Wednesday, April 22, at 11 a.m. at the Minnetrista Baptist Church in St. Bonifacius with the Rev. Jerry Fluth officiating. Interment was at Minnetrista Baptist Cemetery.
Visitation was Tuesday, April 21, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia, and continued Wednesday for one hour prior to the service at church.
Casket bearers were Todd Barnes, Matthew Barnes, Tom Bergum, and John Lundregan.
