Lowell Eugene Beery, age 76, of Winsted, died Saturday, April 25, 2009, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 15, 1932, in Clarinda, IA, the son of Jennings B. and Geneva A. Wolfe Beery.
Lowell honorably served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War on the USS Higbee.
Lowell E. Beery and Nadine Queener were joined in marriage Oct. 13, 1961, in Marysville, CA.
Lowell was formerly employed at a service station, by Koote Engineering, and also as a security guard.
He enjoyed motorcycle riding, traveling, gold mining near Paradise, CA, fishing, four-wheel driving, and hunting.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law and best friend, Audrey M. and Frank A. Boswell of Montrose; two granddaughters, Laura and Tina; two grandsons, Brian and Michael; a stepson, Michael Finley; a sister, Margaret Whitehill of Chico, CA; and other relatives and friends.
Lowell was preceded in death by his wife, Nadine, Jan. 10, 1993; a stepson, Patrick; his parents; three brothers; and a sister.
A memorial service took place Sunday, May 3 at 1 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted.
