Peter L. “Pete” Behrends, age 42, of Delano, died peacefully Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at the family’s “ranch,” after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born May 25, 1966, to Lynn and Leona (Suter) Behrends in Minneapolis.
Pete was the general manager of Tetra Pak CPS in Winsted.
He graduated from Mankato State University in June of 1990, with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
Pete loved anything that went fast including his 357 Formula boat and his V-Rod Harley.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patty Behrends; stepchildren Justin, McKenzie and Carter; siblings Scott and Annette Behrends of Buffalo, Roberta “Bobi” and James Meehan of Independence, Mark and Karen Behrends of Buffalo, and Matthew and Sandy Behrends of Buffalo; stepfather James Burns of Delano; sister-in-law Kim and Chad Cartwright; nieces and nephews Rachel Behrends, Nicholas Behrends, Anna, Kathryn, and Mary Meehan, Nicole Cartwright, Matthew and Steven Hirsch; friend Chris Johnson “Squid;” and his Great Dane, Jenny.
Peter was preceded in death by his father, Lynn Behrends; his mother, Leona Behrends Burns; an infant brother, Thomas Behrends; and his mother-in-law, Gege Fuerstenberg.
Mass of Christian Burial took place Saturday, May 9 at the St. Peter Catholic Church in Delano with the Rev. Christopher Wenthe officiating. Interment was in the Calvary Cemetery in Delano.
Casket bearers were Justin Rehmann, McKenzie Rehmann, Carter Sheehan, Scott Behrends, Mark Behrends, Matt Behrends, James Meehan, and Troy Farniok. Honorary Bearers were Nicholas Behrends and Steven Hirsch.
Arrangements were by the Iten Funeral home in Delano.
