Clemens John Blazinski, age 81, of Silver Lake, passed away peacefully Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009, at Cedar Crest Assisted Living.
Clem was born July 26, 1928, in Hale Township, McLeod County, the son of John and Helen (Yurek) Blazinski.
He graduated in 1946 from Silver Lake High School and soon after was drafted to serve in the US Army.
Clem and Judy (Matousek) were married Sept. 1, 1956. God blessed their marriage with 13 children.
Clem worked in car sales, general contracting, and dairy farming. He was a member of the Silver Lake Ambulance crew from 1975 to 1988.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, polka music, and was interested in cars. Clem loved to visit with family and friends, and was sure to make you smile and laugh. He also enjoyed spending time on his riding lawn mower, tending to his yard.
Clem is survived by his children, Greg (Julie), Mark (Deb), Phil, Linda Bray, Laurie (Lyle Cuhel), Leone (Scott) Anderson, Jim, Brian, Brad (Sandy), and Chris; 29 grandchildren, Thackery and Janet Blazinski, Giles, Sarah and Amy Blazinski, Candace, Rachel, and Kara Blazinski, John, Francisco and Michael Bray, Hailey, Hannah and Jackson Blazinski-Cuhel, Nicole, John and Davis Blazinski, Ashley and Josh Blazinski, Cassidy, Brandon and Megan Blazinski, Karlee and Larissa Blazinski, Alicia and Bailey Blazinski, Zachary Blazinski, and Jamie and Brittany Anderson; and four great-grandchildren.
He is further survived by a sister, Cecelia Gundvaldson; brother-in-law, Paul; nieces; nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
Clem was preceded in death by his sons, Michael, Jeff, and Jeremy; parents John and Helen Blazinski; brother Ernie; and sisters Mabel Anderson, Marie Hinneberg, Adeline Rudnick, and baby sister Alice.
A Mass of Christian Burial took place Wednesday, Oct. 14 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake. Father Brian Oestreich was the celebrant, and Alice Nowak played the organ and accordion. Interment with military rites was at St. Adalbert’s Cemetery in Silver Lake.
The casket bearers were Clem’s sons: Greg, Mark, Phil, Jim, Brian, Brad and Chris.
The Maresh Funeral Home of Silver Lake served the family.
