Ethel (Brodin) Carlson, age 90, of Dassel, died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009.
She was born March 15, 1919, and was proud of having graduated from the North High class of 1937.
A great cook, food service was Ethel’s career, including employment at the Coffee Cup Café in Dassel, the Brooklyn Center High School, Ebenezer Home, Minnehaha Academy, IDS Tower, and First Covenant Church.
She loved gardening, square dancing, travel, and meeting people.
Everyone is unique, but Ethel was truly one-of-a-kind. She knew what she wanted and never apologized for going after it. She was determined, emotional, and gutsy.
Ethel is survived by her children, John (Joda) Brodin, Neil Brodin and Danielle Rogers, and Becky Brodin; grandchildren Alissa, Taya, Brittany, Michael, and Joe; and great-grandson, Bishop.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, of 55 years, Dick Brodin; by her second husband, of nine years, Gordon Carlson; and a son, Rodger.
The funeral service took place Saturday, Nov. 14, at 11 a.m. at the Lake Jennie Covenant Church in Dassel, with visitation one hour before the service.
Arrangements were by the Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel.
