She was born Dec. 27, 1922, to Alvina and Helmuth Neuhaus in Green Isle. Esther received her religious education at the parochial school of First Lutheran Church in Glencoe.

Esther exchanged marriage vows with Art Dahlen Sept. 14, 1941. They started their married life on the Dahlen farm, south of Cokato, where they operated a dairy farm together.

Throughout her life, Esther enjoyed simple things such as decorating her home for each holiday season, planting flowers, cooking, bowling, ceramics, singing, and visits with family. She also always enjoyed a good “cup of coffee and a cookie.”

She was grateful to the caring staff at the Manor, and expressed her appreciation to them often.

Esther is survived by her husband, Art; her daughters Karen (Tim) Falde, and Linda Dahlen; her son, David Dahlen; grandchildren Jackie (Wade) Brown, and Derek Falde; great-grandchildren Jada, Paige, Levi, and Travis; four sisters; one brother; nieces; nephews; and many other family members.

She was preceded in death by an infant son; an infant daughter; her parents; a brother; and a sister.

The funeral service took place Friday, Feb. 13 at 2 p.m. at Cokato Evangelical Lutheran Church with visitation for two hours preceding the service at the church. The Rev. Steve Thorson officiated, and interment followed in the church cemetery.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato.
