Marshall Dainsberg, age 89, of Alexandria, a former longtime resident of Delano, died Wednesday, March 18, 2009.
The funeral service will be Monday, March 23 at 10:30 a.m. at the Benson Evangelical Free Church, with reviewal before the service.
Marshall was born Dec. 3, 1919. He helped raise his siblings after his father died when he was about 16 years of age.
He served his country in World War II.
Marshall owned a clothing store in Delano before moving to Minneapolis, Benson, and then Alexandria.
He, along with his brothers, Stan, John (Jack), and Harold (Snook) played town team baseball for Delano. Marshall was the first baseman a position now played by his 9-year-old grandson, Ryan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mardell; father, Ole (Curley); mother Minnie; and five siblings, Eleanor Nyberg, Loraine Stumpf, Adele Carlson, Harold Dainsberg, and Stan Dainsberg.
Marshall is survived by his children, Diane Patterson, Dean Dainsberg, Dan Dainsberg, and Don Dainsberg; eight grandchildren; his brother, John (Jack) Dainsberg, and brothers-in-law Pat Dainsberg and George Stumpf.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Petermeiers Alexandria Funeral Care and Cremation Service.
