Cecilia Katherine “Tillie” Decker, age 83, of Waverly, died Sunday, Oct. 4, 2009, at The Howard Lake Good Samaritan Center.
She was born Oct. 25, 1925, in Royalton, the daughter of John and Cecilia Pohlkamp Heurung.
Cecilia was joined in holy marriage to Marvin P. Decker Sept. 27, 1947, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Royalton. God blessed their marriage with four children: Kenneth, Karen, Daniel, and James.
Tillie was a faithful member of The Church of St. Mary in Waverly.
Through the years, she was a homemaker, and worked part time in house cleaning and as a waitress.
Tillie enjoyed camping, ceramics, gardening, flowers, embroidery, trips to northern Minnesota, watching Tiger Woods play golf, and senior citizen clubs in both Waverly and Montrose. She was an excellent cook.
Tillie is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Marvin P. Decker; children Ken Decker, Karen (John) Rassat, all of Waverly, Dan (Wendy) Decker of Burnsville, and Jim (Becky) Decker of Green Bay, WI; nine grandchildren: Wayne (Rhonda) Decker, Greg (Liz) Decker and Jerry (Maureen) Decker; Travis (Keena) Rassat and Rebecca Rassat; Kellie Decker and Katy Decker; Andy Decker and Bridget Decker; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Rita Wunderlich; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Ambrose and John; sisters Helen and Estella; and by a daughter-in-law, Ardis Decker.
A Mass of Christian Burial took place Friday, Oct. 9 at 10 a.m. at The Church of St. Mary in Waverly. Father Timothy Cloutier was the celebrant, and interment followed at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation was Thursday, Oct. 8th from 4 to 8 p.m. at The Church of St. Mary in Waverly, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., and continued Friday at the church one hour prior to Mass.
Tillie’s nine grandchildren were her casket bearers.
