Anthony Virgil “Tony” Ellis, age 20, of Buffalo, died Sunday, March 29, 2009.
He was born in Robbinsdale Feb. 23, 1989, the son of Shawn and Tamara Lynn Remer Ellis.
Tony graduated from Buffalo High School in 2007.
He was a year-round musician, playing guitar and writing inspirational music. His Rock band, “Blood Root Mother” was widely followed and very popular with area young people.
Tony also worked as a roofer and was employed part time at BJ’s Deli.
He is survived by his parents, Tamara and Shawn Ellis of Buffalo; a sister, Melissa Ellis of Buffalo; maternal grandmother, Marian Remer of Waverly; paternal grandparents, Patricia and Jay Hammerstrom of St. Michael; uncles and aunts, Tom Oprzedek Jr. of Chicago, David (Nancy) Remer of Montrose, Michael Remer of Cokato, Douglas (Diane) Remer of Howard Lake, Sandra (Tom Otto) Remer of Minneapolis, Roger (Carol) Remer of Waverly, Heidi (Michael) Potter of Albertville, Natalie (Mark) Richman of East Brunswick, NJ, Darren (Kris) Remer of Howard Lake (Tony’s godparents), Lynette (Jerome) Williamson of Waverly, and Lynn Remer-Springman of Buffalo; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Tony was preceded in death by maternal grandfather, Clemens Remer in 1980; and by his uncles, James Remer in 1973, and Bradley Remer in 1998.
A funeral service took place Friday, April 3 at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo with Pastor Judy Burgett Winzig officiating. Diane Johnson was the organist
Visitation was Thursday, April 2 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo.
Casket bearers were Jesse Ernster, Robert Newton, Steve Vannelli, Mikel Pool, Elliot Weiner, Ryan Gaskill, Robert Kanawyer ,and Jared Walhowe.
The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo served the family.
