Joann Ann Erickson, age 73, of Rockford, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2009, at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Minneapolis after a long courageous battle with cancer.
She was born May 11, 1935, in Jackson to Joseph and Albina (Tusa) Bares.
Joann married Gerald Erickson at the Little Brown Church of the Vale in Nashua, IA.
She was a member of St. Timothy Catholic Church, Maple Lake, and the Community Bible Study in Buffalo.
Joann enjoyed gardening, cooking, collecting recipes, and spending time with her great nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her companion, Emmett Steffens of Rockford; brother, Joe and Barb Bares of Buffalo; nieces and nephews, Donna and Tim Erickson of Albertville, Jay and Kelly Bares of Buffalo, and Kathy and Adam Kliewer of Delano; eight great nieces and great nephews; and three great, great nieces and great, great nephews.
Her parents and husband preceded her in death.
Mass of Christian Burial was Friday, Feb. 6 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Timothy Catholic Church in Maple Lake with Fr. Michael Izen officiating. Jay Bares was the urn bearer. The Resurrection Choir and Marge Pavlik, organist, provided music. Interment was in St. Timothy Catholic Cemetery.
Friends called Thursday, Feb. 5 from 4 to 7 p.m., and Friday, Feb. 6 from 1:30 to 2:15 p.m. at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Maple Lake. A prayer service took place Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
