Richard “Rick” Burton Euerle
Richard “Rick” Burton Euerle, age 42, of Hutchinson, died Saturday, May 9, 2009, at his home.

He was born May 22, 1966, in Litchfield, the son of Burton and Ardys (Christensen) Euerle. Rick was baptized as an infant in the Lutheran faith, and was later confirmed as a youth at the Lamson Evangelical Free Church in Dassel.

He received his education in Hutchinson, and was a graduate of the Hutchinson High School Class of 1984. Rick furthered his education by attending Mankato State University.

Rick entered active military service in the US Marine Corp July 30, 1984, and served his country in Alaska and Japan. He was awarded the Rifle Expert Badge, Pistol Expert Badge, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, and the Good Conduct Medal. Rick received an honorable discharge July 29, 1988. He then joined the National Guard in Willmar.

Rick met the love of his life, his soulmate, Martina “Tina” Sanchez in July of 1995. They were united in marriage Aug. 22, 1998, at the Lamson Evangelical Free Church, by Pastor Ralph Erickson.

Rick and Tina resided at their home on Lake Minnie Belle until 2005, when they moved to Hutchinson. They shared 10 years of marriage.

Rick held employment as an insurance agent and also owned and operated Rick’s Drywall, Inc.

He was a member of the Lamson Evangelical Free Church in Dassel. He was also a member of the Hutchinson American Legion Post 96 and the Hutchinson Eagles Post 4441.

Rick enjoyed fishing, football, bowling, and a good game of golf. He liked to work on remodeling projects.

Rick loved babysitting his granddaughter, Ava. He especially enjoyed the time he spent with his family.

Rick was diagnosed with cancer in July of 2008.

He is survived by his wife, Martina “Tina” Euerle of Hutchinson,; children, John Martinez-Euerle of Laredo, TX, Jacqueline Martinez-Euerle and Paul Grimm of Roseville, and Isabelle Martinez-Euerle of Hutchinson; granddaughter, Ava Isabelle Grimm-Martinez; parents Burton and Ardys Euerle of Dassel; mother-in-law Anna Sanchez of Laredo, TX; and grandmother Viola Christensen of Litchfield.

Rick is further survived by his siblings, Donald Euerle and his wife, Nancy, of Eden Valley, Cindy Van Nurden and her husband, Trevor, of St. Cloud, Dean Euerle and his wife, Sue, of Darwin, David Euerle and his wife, Terri, of Litchfield, Cheryl Shumaker and her husband, Matt, of Island Lake, IL, and Jeff Euerle of Dassel; nieces; nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Alvin Christensen; grandparents Albert and Claire Euerle; sisters Ronda Euerle, Esther Grot, and Dawn Graff; father-in-law Daniel Sanchez, Sr.; and brothers-in-law John Sanchez and Vincent Sanchez.

Funeral services took place Thursday, May 14 at 11 a.m. at the Lamson Evangelical Free Church in Dassel, with the Rev.Mike Newsom officiating. Organist was Suzi Swarthout. A duet was performed by Suzi Swarthout and Ann Watts, who sang “On Eagle’s Wings: and “Home With Jesus” (written by Ardys Euerle). Congregational hymns were “Amazing Grace” and “When the Saints Go Marching In.” Interment was in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, with military honors provided by the Hutchinson Memorial Rifle Squad.

Casket bearers were Dean Euerle, David Euerle, Jeff Euerle, Frank Gesinger, Bryant Blackwell, and Jeff Nygaard
