Donna Mae Hanson, age 81, of Watertown, died Tuesday Dec. 22, 2009, at Waconia Ridgeview Hospital.
She was born Nov. 25, 1928, in Minneapolis, to William and Elsie (Morphew) Schwender.
Donna and her husband, Everett moved to a farm in Watertown in 1961 to raise their family. She remained in her home on the farm until her death.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father; husband of 46 years, Everett; son Rick; sisters Wilma Irgang, Gwendolyn Oliva, and Bernita Berde; and brothers Chuck, William and Keith.
Donna is survived by sons, Larry (Suzanne) of Watertown, David (Edie) of Mayer, Paul (Debbie) of Pine River, and Ted (Deb) of Howard Lake; nine grandchildren: Jason, Candace, Kris (Heather), Adam, Connie (Ryan) Hedtke, Bill, Lori, Jennifer (Brent) Theis, and Benjamin; and six great-grandchildren: Darlene, Deanna, Luke, Emily, Maya, and Malachi, and two more on the way.
She is further survived by her sisters, Gayle (Dale) Johnson, Roberta Sorenson, and Judith (Bob) Hoffman; and her special companion of more than eight years, Jim Steinhaus.
Donna will be remembered as a loving mother of five, and a loving grandmother and great-grandmother.
She loved to laugh and have fun, and she touched many people with her love, joy, friendship, and her zest for life. She was well loved and will be greatly missed.
Visitation was Saturday, Jan. 2 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Watertown from 10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m. Pastor Ken DeFor officiated. A private interment will take place at a later date at the Watertown Public Cemetery.
Arrangements were by the Cremation Society of MN Edina Chapel.
