Loren C. Hensel, age 82, of New Germany, died Monday, May 25, 2009, at the Elim Home in Watertown.
Loren was born April 24, 1927, in Camden Township, Carver County, the son of William and Laura (Lenz) Hensel.He was baptized May 22, 1927, at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany with the Rev. Theodore Rolf officiating, and confirmed by the same May 4, 1941.
Loren was united in marriage to Dorothy B. Dalbec May 26, 1948, at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Delano with the Rev. E. H. Bruns officiating.
Loren enjoyed playing cards, his favorite being sheephead; and going fishing and hunting.
He was a director of the New Germany Town Team for 25 years, and a member of the New Germany Commercial Club.
Loren was preceded in death by his son, Dean Hensel; an infant daughter; father and mother, William and Laura Hensel; brother Melvin Hensel; sister-in-law Rubina Hensel; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Erna Dalbec.
He is survived by his loving family: wife Dorothy; sons and daughters-in-law Gene and Marlene Hensel of Hackensack, and Mike and Patty Hensel of New Germany; grandchildren Michelle Parker, Jennifer and Scott Millerbernd, Angela and Bob Kranz, Abby and Brittany Hensel, Koty Hensel, and Morgan Hensel; great-grandchildren Adam, Nicholas, Alexander, Ashley, and Alison; sister-in-law Hallie Hensel of Watertown; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
The funeral service took place Thursday, May 28 at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany with the Rev. LeRoy LaPlant officiating. Visitation was from 9 a.m. until the start of the service.
Casket bearers were Adam Parker, Koty Hensel, Bob Kranz, Scott Millerbernd, Bob McPadden, and Kevin Kahl. Honorary casket bearers were Alexander Parker, Nicholas Parker, Ashley Millerbernd, Alison Millerbernd, Morgan Hensel, and Abby and Brittany Hensel.
