Charles Huepenbecker, 70

Charles R. Huepenbecker, age 70, of Mayer, died Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009, at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.

He was born March 20, 1939, in Plato, the son of Raymond and Elda (Borchardt) Huepenbecker. Charles was baptized April 23, 1939, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Reformed Church in Plato by the Rev. J.H. Bunge, confirmed at the same church March 29, 1953, by the Rev. W.A. Koch, and later reconfirmed while in the military to the Lutheran Church (Missouri Synod) Feb. 3, 1963, by Chaplain N. Diaz at Ft. Bliss, TX.

Charles married Dianne M. Zellmann March 24, 1963, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church parsonage, Watertown Township, by the Rev. Henry Wetzel. They were blessed with two children, Danny and Lori.

In 1966, they bought a home in Mayer. Charles spent two years in the military armed service; and was employed at the Culvert Company in Shakopee, J.R. Clarke Company in Spring Park, and the last 40 years for Nilfisk Advanced Machine Company in Plymouth.

Charles was a loving husband, dad and grandpa.

He served as the treasurer at Zion Lutheran Church in Mayer.

Charles enjoyed watching his grandson in sports, gardening, fishing, and traveling.

He was preceded in death by his son, Danny Huepenbecker; father Raymond Huepenbecker; father-in-law and mother-in-law Herman and Margaret Zellmann; brother-in-law Troy Raney; sisters-in-law Margaret and Joyce Huepenbecker; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Gerald and Margaret Zellmann; and nephews Duane Raney, Steven Huepenbecker and Curtis Huepenbecker.

Charles is survived by his loving family: wife Dianne; daughter and son-in-law Lori and Brian Cole of Mayer; grandson Jared Duske of Watertown; Mother Elda Huepenbecker of Glencoe; sister and brother-in-law Shirley and Dick Leyse of Granite Falls; brother and sister-in-law Leonard and Sheryle Huepenbecker of St. Cloud; brother Maynard Huepenbecker of South Carolina; sister Myra Huepenbecker of Richfield; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law Ronald and Carol Zellmann of Watertown, and Jesse Zellmann of Washington; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

The funeral service was Monday, Jan. 4 at 2 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Mayer, with visitation preceding the service for one hour. The Rev. Adam Gless officiated, and interment was at Zion Lutheran Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Jared Duske, Brian Cole, Randy Zellmann, Rick Zellmann, Kevin Raney, and Ron Raney.
