Clarence M. Hultgren, age 92, formerly of Lester Prairie, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009, at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.
He was born Jan. 6, 1917, in Hollywood Township, Carver County, the son of Titus and Hulda Anderson Hultgren.
Clarence honorably served his country in the United States military.
He was joined in holy marriage to Erma E. Lauzer Dec. 20, 1941, in Watertown. God blessed their marriage with four children: Rosie, Millard, Joyce, and Patricia.
Clarence was formerly employed as a fieldman for Bongards Creamery for more than 30 years.
A faithful member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie, he served on various church boards.
He also was a 56-year member of American Legion Post 463 in Lester Prairie.
Clarence is survived by his children: Rosie (Don) Stern of Mayer, Millard (LaDonna) Hultgren of Huntley, MT, Joyce Anderson of Waconia, and Patricia (Larry “Butch”) Strei of Lester Prairie; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Erma; grandson Jeffrey Stern; parents Titus and Hulda; two brothers, Eldor and Everett Hultgren; and a sister, Gladys Kowalke.
The funeral service was Saturday, Feb. 7 at 2 p.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie witih the Rev. Erick Thompson officiating. Interment with military rites followed at Lester Prairie City Cemetery.
Visitation took place Saturday, Feb. 7 from noon until the time of the funeral service at the church.
Honorary casket bearers were Harold Hultgren and Raymond Nelson.
Casket bearers were Chad Strei, Wade Stock, Troy Hultgren, Jamie Stender, Dan Gueck, and Steve Bakken.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
