Alice Esther Hunt, age 82, of Howard Lake, formerly of Dassel, died Saturday, March 14, 2009, at the Park View Care Center in Buffalo.
She was born Easter Sunday, April 17, 1927, to Anton and Esther (Meyer) Hedstrom, in Princeton, MN.
Alice attended rural schools, and graduated from Princeton High School in 1945. After graduating, she moved to Minneapolis, where she worked at IDS.
Alice married Ralph Hunt in November 1946, in Minneapolis. Together, they raised five children, in Richfield and Bloomington.
Alice worked with her husband in their family business, Hub Hobby, in Richfield from 1960 to 1975.
In 1976, they moved to Dassel, where Alice worked at the nursing home until 1978, and Nortronics from 1978 to 1991.
In 1993, they moved to Howard Lake.
After retiring, Alice enjoyed traveling and made many road trips with her husband around various parts of the country in their camper. Alice did extensive research on the Hunt and Hedstrom family histories, constructing a family tree to pass down for generations to come.
She enjoyed crafts, needlework, sewing, and making afghans and quilts, including making quilts with the Naomi Guild at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake. She was also a constant reader of all types of books and magazines, and enjoyed flowers, especially freesia; garage sales, and antique stores.
Alice wrote letters to many people and enjoyed the exchanging of Christmas cards and decorating the Christmas tree. She always remembered others on their birthdays and special occasions.
She found great joy and love in her five children, nine grandchilren, and three great-grandchildren.
Alice was preceded in death by two daughters, Cynthia Harrison and Carol Coy; a grandson, Christopher Coy; a daughter-in-law, Rhonda Hunt; one sister; and one brother.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph; sons Douglas Hunt of Minneapolis, and Russell Hunt of South Haven; and a daughter, Janet (Paul) Fuller of Rogers.
Funeral services took place Thursday, March 19 at 2 p.m. at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake with interment at Resurrecton Cemetery in Shorewood, MN.
Visitation was Wednesday, March 18 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo.
Casket bearers were Douglas Hunt, Russell Hunt, Ryan Hunt, Nicholas Fuller, Paul Fuller, and Donald Coy.
