Louella Marie Jenkins, age 63, of Dassel, formerly of Cokato, died Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at Lakeview Ranch Home of Dassel.
She was born at home in Howard Lake May 24, 1945, to Stephen and Loretta (Mertz) Mauk. Louella grew up on the farm north of Howard Lake, attended the Catholic school at St. Mary’s parish in Waverly, and graduated from Howard Lake High School in 1963.
After high school, Lou worked manufacturing jobs at Hopkins and Cokato, then at the Howard Lake Municipal Liquor Store, Custer’s Super Valu, and finally, for 19 years at Nortronics in Dassel.
Louella was joined in marriage to Lynn Lee Jenkins Nov. 2, 1968, at Evangelical Lutheran Church of Cokato by the Rev. Russell Peterson. To this union, four children were born. The couple made their home in Cokato Township.
Lou enjoyed baking, needlework, reading, bingo and card games, and garage sales. She was most devoted to her family, and enjoyed her grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, Dean (Tonya) of Cokato, Del (Scott Showalter) of Fridley, and Trevor (Heidi) of Buffalo; grandchildren Noah and Kate; brothers Harvey (Linda) Mauk, and Lester (Rita) Mauk; and sisters Eileen Potter, and Teri (Bob) Thurber.
Louella was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Loretta; husband Lynn; a baby daughter; a sister, Evelyn; and a brother, Eldon.
The funeral service was Saturday, March 14 at 2 p.m. at Evangelical Lutheran Church of Cokato, with the Rev. Steven Thorson officiating. Music was provided by Karen Anderson and Rita Mauk. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Visitation preceded the funeral service, beginning at noon.
Casket bearers were Paul Mauk, Jeff Mauk, Dan Mauk, Devon Mauk, Harlan Mauk, Steve Potter, and Charlie Thurber.
Arrangements were by Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home of Cokato.
