Lorna M. Karnitz, age 91, of Norwood Young America, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, at the Elim Home of Watertown.
Lorna was born March 30, 1917, on the family farm in Benton Township, Cologne, the daughter of Henry A. and Lydia (Bergman) Bruesehoff. She was baptized April 18, 1917, by the Rev. August Rehwaldt; and confirmed March 29, 1931, by the Rev. Herman AmEnd, both at Zion Lutheran Church in Benton Twp., Cologne.
Lorna was united in marriage to Frank E. Karnitz May 18, 1939, at Zion Lutheran Church, Benton Twp., Cologne, by the Rev. Victor Ostermann.
Lorna lived on the family farm her entire life. She enjoyed her family, cherishing the time they were able to spend together at gatherings.
A long-time member of Zion Lutheran Ladies Aid, Lorna excelled at gardening, cooking, and quilting. She was a terrific wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and will be thought of often.
Lorna was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; grandson Garth Thomas Karnitz; father and mother, Henry and Lydia Bruesehoff; sisters LaVerna Bruesehoff, and Lucille Boehmke; and brother Fred Bruesehoff.
She is survived by her loving family; sons and daughter-in-law Kenneth Karnitz of Norwood Young America, Robert and Suzanne Karnitz of Arden Hills, and Dale Karnitz of Cologne; grandchildren Craig and Beth Karnitz, Jeff Karnitz, Eben Karnitz, Thad Karnitz, and Edward Karnitz; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
The funeral service took place Friday, Jan. 2 at 2:30 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Benton Twp., Cologne, with the Rev. Eric Zacharias officiating, and visitation for two hours prior to the service. Interment was at Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
Lorna’s sons and grandsons were her casket bearers.
