Idella Laura Kettenacker, age 81, of Rockford, passed away Tuesday June 23, 2009.
She was born to Henry and Mary (Schuller) Bukowsky in Greenwood Township Aug. 11, 1927. Idella grew up in the Rockford area and graduated from Rockford High School in 1945.
Idella married Harold Kettenacker May 24, 1952. They started a family and raised two sons on their farm in Greenfield.
After Harold’s death in 1967, Idella and her two sons moved into Rockford, where she worked for the Rockford School District until retiring.
She was a lifelong member at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Loretto.
Idella is survived by her sons, Dwayne (Lois) Kettenacker of Buffalo, and Darryl (Sue) Kettenacker of Rockford; grandchildren Katie (Brett) Rhodes, Jaime (Jeremiah) Gregory, Darcie Kettenacker, Ryan (Katie) Kettenacker, Brent Kettenacker, Brady (Alicia) Kettenacker, and Danielle Kettenacker; nine great-grandchildren; and a loving sister, Mary Dalbec of Rockford.
In addition to her husband, Idella was preceded in death by her brother, Vernon Bukowsky; sisters Bernice Schultze and Delrose James; and a great-grandson, Justice Gregory.
A funeral Mass took place Saturday, June 27 at 10:30 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Loretto. Interment was at Elmwood Cemetery in Rockford.
Visitation was Friday, June 26 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo, with a 7 p.m. prayer service; and continued Saturday for one hour prior to the Mass at the church.
