Milan E. Klima, 76

Milan E. Klima, age 76, of Silver Lake, died Wednesday evening, Feb. 4, 2009, in Hutchinson.

He was born Feb. 14, 1932, in Collinwood Township, Meeker County, the son of John and Mamie Skorpik Klima.

Milan honorably served his country in the US Army as a MP.

Milan was joined in holy marriage with Joanne E. Johnson Feb. 14, 1953, at the Congregational Church in Silver Lake.

Milan, Joanne, and their family moved to Silver Lake in 1969, from Stockholm Township.

Through the years, Milan hauled milk to both the Winsted and Stockholm creameries, and was employed at Sterner Industries, Glencoe Manufacturing, and more than 20 years at Waconia Farm Supply.

He attended Grace Bible Church in Silver Lake.

Milan served 20 years on the Silver Lake Fire Department, belonged to, and was a past commander of American Legion Post 141, and served as the Legion’s past bingo manager.

Milan enjoyed camping, polka music, playing cards, plastic model kits, word search books, watching football games, and his can collection.

He is survived by his children: Linda Klima of Silver Lake, Debbie (Steve) Plamann of Hutchinson, Gary (Nita) Klima, James (Kari) Klima, all of Silver Lake, Michael (Julie) Klima of New Germany, and Pam (Tony) Hand of Silver Lake; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Gloria Peterson of Dassel; sister-in-law, Esther Klima of Cokato; niece Wendy Maresh of Silver Lake; nephew Ron Klima of Cokato; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joanne E. Klima May 23, 2006; an infant son; his parents; a sister, Delores Peterson; and a brother, Harvey J. Klima.

Funeral services were Saturday, Feb. 7 at 1:30 p.m. at Grace Bible Church in Silver Lake with the Rev. Dr. Tom Rakow officiating. Musician was Beth Rakow. Congregational hymns were “Here I Am, Lord” and “I Am Jesus’ Little Lamb.” Scripture reading was by Eddie Klima. Interment followed at Holy Family Cemetery.

A visitation took place Friday, Feb. 6 from 4 to 8 p.m.. at the Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake.

Honorary casket bearers were Wendy Maresh, Sherronda Moore, Kimberly Plamann, Bethany Plamann, Becca Plamann, Lucas Plamann, Amber Klima, Eric Klima, Jacob Klima, Molly Klima, Libby Klima, Chris Hand, Kathy Hand, and Carly Hand.

Casket bearers were Christopher Plamann, Michael Plamann, Sherrard Klima, Matthew Klima, Mitchell Klima, and Ron Klima.

The Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake served the family.
