Dale E. Lambert, age 76, of Aitkin, formerly of Dassel, died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009, at the Riverwood Health Care Center in Aitkin.
Dale was born April 24, 1933, in Dassel, the son of Eddie and Amanda (Nelson) Lambert. He grew up and attended country schools, and graduated from the Dassel High School in 1951.
He then helped on the family farm, before serving in the US Navy for two years. Upon his discharge from the Navy, Dale returned to Dassel and continued helping on the farm.
He married Hazel Stangland June 26, 1959.
Dale was employed by 3M in Hutchinson for 33 years, until he retired in 1992.
Upon retirement, Dale and Hazel moved to Spirit Lake, near Aitkin, and have lived there since. Dale worked at Rutgers Resort as a grounds keeper for nine years.
He and Hazel also spent five winters in the Yuma, AZ area.
Dale and his wife made crafts and sold them at various craft shows. Dale also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and woodworking.
He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and the Aitkin United Methodist Church.
Dale is survived by his wife, Hazel Lambert of Aitkin; daughter and son-in-law Shirley and Kane Viesselman of Hutchinson; two grandchildren: Casey Viesselman and Cole Viesselman; and many special friends and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Alan Lambert, in 1989.
Funeral services took place Friday, Dec. 11 at 11 a.m. from the Aitkin United Methodist Church with the Rev. Judith Clark officiating. Burial was in the Bennettville Cemetery.
Visitation was Thursday, Dec. 10 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin, and continued Friday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
