David Ernest Larson, age 59, of Watkins, died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at the St. Cloud Hospital.
He was born June 28, 1950, in St. Cloud, the son of Ernest and Dorothy (Peterson) Larson.
Dave grew up in the Kingston area, attending country school in District 1073, and later in Cokato. He continued to live in the Kingston and surrounding area his entire life.
Dave made his living as an auto mechanic and working for various road construction companies.
He enjoyed being at his home and would often be found working outdoors in his yard and playing solitaire with cards. He also enjoyed cars, music, watching NASCAR, and spending time with his family and friends.
Dave fought a courageous battle with cancer for many years and loved life until the end.
He is survived by his parents, Ernie and Dorothy Larson of South Haven; longtime companion Jill Knickerbocker of Watkins; daughters Anne (and Lance) Wiggert of Hutchinson, Michelle (and Steve Nelson) Larson, and Holly (and Jeff) Laway, all of Litchfield; grandchildren Aili and Helena Nelson, and Layne, Hannah and Aidan Nelson; brothers John, Loren, Mike, Tom, and Bob; sisters Karen, Deanna, Gail, and Mariann; brothers- and sisters-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
Dave was preceded in death by his grandparents.
A memorial gathering took place Thursday, Nov. 5 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield.
