Thomas F. Lobitz, 58

Thomas F. Lobitz, age 58, of Crystal, formerly of Watertown, died Saturday, April 25, 2009, at his home.

He was born May 28, 1950, in Watertown, the son of Walter and Lorena (Schaunamann) Lobitz. Thomas was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Watertown Township.

He graduated from Watertown High School.

Thomas was united in marriage to Sandra M. Brown March 2, 1973, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Delano.

Thomas was employed as a carpenter for Kuntz Brothers Construction in Waconia.

He thoroughly enjoyed watching the Vikings play football, being their number-one fan. Tom loved animals; his dog, Holly, and cats Ginger and Bailey were very important to him.

A loving husband, dad, son, brother, and uncle, Tom liked to go hunting and be outdoors. He made many friends at Courage Center and the MS Achievement Center.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lorena Lobitz; a brother, Daniel Lobitz; great-nephews Adam Markuson and Noah Lobitz; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ambrose and Lorraine Brown.

He is survived by his loving family: wife Sandra; daughters and sons-in-law Jacque Lobitz and Bryan Baumann of Montrose, and Jill Lobitz and Richard Kong of St. Michael; brothers and sisters-in-law Harlan and Angela Lobitz of Carlos, James Lobitz and friend Bonnie Ide of Watertown, Larry and Joan Lobitz of Osakis, Steven and Cindy Lobitz of Birchwood, WI, and John and Mary Lobitz of Watertown; and sisters and brothers-in-law Marlene and Dale Krotzer of Milaca, Karen and Robert Olson of Shakopee, Lois and Wesley Schmidt of Lester Prairie, Carol and Joe Baumgardner of Olivia, Shirley and Garlen Mikolichek of Mayer, and Debra and Gary Fairfield of Winsted.

Tom is further survived by an aunt, Elda Koehler of Waconia; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Janice Bogenrief of Delano, Debra and Randy Gabrelcik of Mound, and Cheryl and Michael VanderLinden of Delano; his caregivers, Joseph Cooper and Mike Wormley; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial took place Wednesday, April 29 at 1:30 p.m. at the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Community in Medina with Father Paul Kammen and Father Michael Tegeder as con-celebrants of the Mass. Interment was at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation was Tuesday, April 28 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia, with vigil prayers at 7 p.m., and continued Wednesday for one hour prior to the Mass.

Tom’s casket bearers were his brothers and brothers-in-law.
