Leon J. Lynch Obituary – 7/3/09


Leon John Lynch, age 79, of Watertown, died Friday, July 3, 2009, at his sister’s home in Winsted.

He was born May, 18, 1920, to John and Josephine (Hausladen) Lynch in Hollywood Township.

Leon served in the Korean War and was honorably discharged at the rank of sergeant.

He was a longtime farmer in Hollywood Township.

Leon was an avid baseball fan and player.

He was preceded in death by his infant son, R. John Daniel Lynch; a grandson, Samuel Leon Lynch; parents John and Josephine Lynch; siblings Edward and Emmett Lynch; a sister-in-law, Virginia Lynch; and a brother-in-law, Ben Lachermeier.

Leon is survived by his children, Brian and Shelly Lynn Lynch, David and Shelly Ann Lynch, Ann and Charles Horstmann, Richard and Lorie Lynch, Jerry and Karen Lynch, Patricia and Allan Guennigsman, Colleen Lynch, and Maureen and Rob McClanahan; grandchildren Matthew, Micah, Marissa, and Miranda Lynch, Whitney and Jeralee Lynch, Becky, Tina, Hope, Maggie, and Mason Horstmann, April and Tony Lynch, Allison and Amy Lynch, Aaron and Chad Guennigsman, Claire Rose Lynch, and Brittany, Samantha, Wyatt and Emma McClanahan; siblings Marcella Lachermeier, Ambrose Lynch, and Jim Lynch; and sister-in-law Lorraine Lynch.

Mass of Christian Burial took place Wednesday, July 8 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown with the Rev. Frank Wampach officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the Wayzata American Legion Post 118 Ernest Aselton.

Bearers were Leon’s grandchildren: Matthew Lynch, Aaron Guennigsman, Tony Lynch, Micah Lynch, Allison Lynch, Whitney Lynch, Mason Horstmann, and Chad Guennigsman.

Arrangements were by the Iten’s Watertown Funeral Home.
