Dorothy H. Maas, age 76, of Brainerd, formerly of Delano, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, at Bethany Good Samaritan in Brainerd, surrounded by her beloved family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, Jan. 14 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Delano with visitation for one hour before the Mass. Father Cloutier will officiate.
She was born Nov. 5, 1932, in Hamburg, to Lydia and Leroy Shrode.
Dorothy married Raymond Maas, her high school sweetheart, June 21, 1950.
They lived in Delano for many years, where Dorothy worked at the Delano Granite Works, and later in Minneapolis at Universal Circuits.
Dorothy and Ray moved to Baxter in 1987, when Ray accepted a job at Capri Plastics/Plastics Plus. Ray died in 2004, and Dorothy was a resident at Bethany Good Samaritan since that time.
She will be remembered for her generous spirit, her kindness, love of music, and concern for others. Dorothy was a caring and giving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her sister, Shirley (Jim Gruba); her brothers, Leland (Joanne), and Larry (Linda); three daughters, Bonnie (Bob) Groneberg of Baxter; Janice (David) Pyles of Minneapoli s; and Kathy Maas of Brooklyn Park; three granddaughters, Nicole (John) McGillis of Deerwood, Kristen (Adam) Wittwer of Brainerd, and Megan Groneberg of Bloomington; and two great-grandchildren, Johnny and Bayley.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, who died at birth.
Arrangements are by the Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd. Memorials are preferred to Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation in lieu of flowers.
