David Mickolichek Obituary – 12/27/2009


David Mickolichek, age 72, of rural Silver Lake, died Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009.

He was born Aug. 5, 1937, the son of Edmund and Gladys (Eggert) Mickolichek. David was baptized at St Adalbert Church, and attended and graduated from Silver Lake Schools.

A farmer all his life, David farmed the acreage that he was born on.

He married the love of his life, Gerry Schroeder April 25, 1959. Gerry and David celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 2009.

David enjoyed farming, fishing and spending time at his Cozy Corners trailer, annual deer hunting trips, and winter getaways to the south. Other favorite pastimes were listening to old-time music and going to casinos.

He also loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter.

David is survived by his wife, Gerry Mickolichek; children, John (Colleen) Mickolichek of Brownton, Mary (John) Mickolichek and Mike (Brenda) Mickolichek of Silver Lake, and Jean (Rob) Dubnecay of Maple Grove; seven grandchildren: Steven (Chrissy) Mickolichek, Colby Mickolichek, Tina Mickolichek, Brady Mickolichek, Liana Mickolichek, Kayla Schermann and Jason Maire; great-granddaughter Evelyn Mickolichek; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edmund and Gladys; two brothers, Floyd and Tom; his in-laws, Henry and Francis Schroeder; brothers-in-law Ed Schroeder and Marlan Radke; and sister-in-law Lorraine Mickolichek.

A Mass of Christian Burial took place Thursday, Dec. 31 at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake with Father Brian Oestreich officiating. Interment was at the Holy Family Catholic Cemetery of Silver Lake.

Pallbearers were Larry Mickolichek, Alan Mickolichek, Russell Mickolichek, Jim Mickolichek, Jerry Mickolichek, Gale Mickolichek, Doug Radke, Mark Radke, and Perry Schroeder. David’s grandchildren were honorary pallbearers.

Arrangements were by the Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake.
