William Michael Neumann, age 91, of Winsted, died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2008, at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.
He was born Sept. 2, 1917, in Winsted Township, McLeod County, the son of Michael and Clara Fasching Neumann.
William M. Neumann and Frances T. Walsh were joined in holy marriage Oct. 17, 1953, at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in St. Paul. God blessed their marriage with three sons, John, Gary, and David.
Bill engaged in farming in old West Winsted for many years. He also was formerly employed at Schwartz Manufacturing, Millerbernds, and Sterner Lighting.
Bill enjoyed playing euchre, cutting wood, and gardening, and he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted, and belonged to the Catholic Order of Foresters Holy Trinity Court 1054.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Frances T. Neumann; sons John W. (Janice) Neumann of Winsted, Gary T. Neumann of Mankato, and David M. (Eileen) Neumann of Lester Prairie; grandchildren Alyssa and Zachary Neumann and Robert and Samantha Neumann; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Clara Neumann; and 13 brothers and sisters, including a special brother, Michael “Mick” Neumann.
A Mass of Christian Burial took place Tuesday, Dec. 30 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. Father William A. Sprigler was the celebrant. Interment followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Visitation was Monday, Dec. 29 from 4 to 8 pm at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted.
Casket bearers were Steve Neumann, Rick Neumann, Scott Neumann, Zachary Neumann, Bob Mochinski, and Steve Quast.
