Rev. Howard T. Olson, age 87, of Golden Valley, went to be with the Lord Friday, Jan. 30, 2009.
Howard served in joint ministry with his wife in pastorates associated with the Baptist General Conference, in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Nebraska, Washington, and Illinois.
He attended Bethel College and Seminary and the University of Minnesota.
Howard excelled in music and played the trombone and baritone right up to his last days. During his student days, he served as the initial director of what would become the Bethel Band.
Howard was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Olson; his parents, Axel and Edith Olson; his brothers, Robert and Ernest Olson; and his sister, Alice Racer.
He is survived by his son, Richard (Kathleen); grandchildren Erica (Randall) Crone and Nathaniel Olson; great-grandchildren Noah and Ethan Crone; and many other family members and friends including a sister-in-law, Leona Olson, and a brother-in-law, C. Wayne Anderson.
A service of celebration took place Friday, Feb. 6 at 11 a.m. at Calvary Church in Roseville. Interment was at Union Cemetery.
Arrangements were by Holcomb-Henry-Boom, Shoreview.
Memorials are preferred to Calvary Church, or to Bethel University.
