Norris L. Olson, 80

Norris Lyndon Olson, age 80, of Dassel, died Friday, April 24, 2009, at the Hutchinson Community Hospital.

He was born Feb. 21, 1929, at the Cokato Hospital, the son of Oscar D. and Madge (Lowry) Olson. Norris was confirmed and baptized through the Dassel Covenant Church.

When the Korean War broke out, Norris was drafted and served two years in the armed services, part of the time overseas.

He was united in marriage to Evangeline “Vannie” Nelson May 1, 1953, at the Covenant Church in Buffalo. They made their home and raised a family on a farm south of Norris’ boyhood home, and Norris farmed with his father, Oscar Olson.

After retiring from farming, Norris spent some time selling seed corn.

He and Vannie moved to the Lakeside Apartments after he was retired.

The Evangelical Covenant Church was very important to Norris, and he was a longtime member. He enjoyed the fellowship there with the members and friends.

Norris loved everyone and kept up communication with relatives and friends from near and far. He had a special love for his late wife and his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

In his retirement years, he enjoyed sharing his carmel rolls, cakes, and other homemade goodies. Norris will be missed by his family and numerous friends.
