Steven ‘Woody’ Quast – 11/6/2009


Steven William “Woody” Quast, age 54, of Hutchinson, died Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, in Meeker County.

Steven was born Nov. 10, 1954, in Minneapolis, the son of William and Rosella (Bebo) Quast. He was baptized as an infant, and later confirmed in his faith as a youth in Winsted.

He received his elementary and high school education in Winsted.

Steve was united in marriage to Brenda Bakke April 16, 1997, in Niagara Falls, NY. Steve and Brenda resided in Hutchinson, and shared 12 years of marriage.

Steve held employment at 3M in Hutchinson.

He enjoyed cooking, playing cards with his mom and Brenda, and helping his family. He also enjoyed being outdoors, riding his motorcycle, snowmobiling, working on his bike, sightseeing, and traveling throughout the mountains.

Steve especially enjoyed the time he spent with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Quast of Hutchinson; mother Rosella Quast of Winsted; mother-in-law Betty Fischer and her husband, Harold, of St. James; sister Kathy Bogatzki and her husband, Andy, of South Haven; brothers-in-law Bruce Bakke of St. James, Douglas Bakke and wife, Dorene of Springfield, Steven Bakke and wife, Jean of St. James, Jeffrey Bakke and wife, Jeannie of Fridley, Bradley Bakke of St. James, Todd Bakke of Mankato, Curtis Bakke of Bunn, NC, and Chad Bakke of St. James; sisters-in-law Pat Matter and husband, Erwin of St. James, Kathy Francis and special friend, Mike of St. Cloud, and Laurie Daurte and husband, Alphonso of St. James; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, William Quast; and father-in-law, Alvin Bakke.

A prayer service took place Thursday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. at the Dobratz-Hantge Chapel in Hutchinson. Father Anthony Hesse officiated at the prayer service, with music provided by organist Alice Nowak. The congregational hymn was “On Eagle’s Wings.” Interment was in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Winsted.
