Arduin Andrew Rolf, age 77, of Silver Lake, died Monday, June 22, 2009, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
He was born Oct. 15, 1931, in Lester Prairie, the son of William P. and Agnes D. Lampher Rolf. Arduin was baptized Nov. 1, 1931, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie by the Rev. Arthur Spleiss. He was also instructed in the Lutheran catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith at the same church March 25, 1945, by the Rev. R.A. Ritz.
Arduin was joined in holy marriage with Ruth Vorlicek Nov. 3, 1956, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie. God blessed their marriage with three children.
Arduin engaged in farming for many years by Lester Prairie and Silver Lake, through which he knew many people from miles around.
He enjoyed his grandchildren, fishing, collecting antique machinery, and attending flea markets.
Arduin was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Rolf; three children: Roger Rolf of Silver Lake, Russell Rolf of Dassel, and Jody (Keith) Cushman of Cologne; two grandchildren: Grace and Benjamin Cushman; and other relatives and friends.
Arduin was preceded in death by his parents, William P. and Agnes D. Rolf; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Elsie Vorlicek.
Funeral services took place Friday, June 26 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie with the Rev. Eric Nelson officiating. Marsha Christenson was the organist for the funeral service, and special music was provided by Chuck Thiel. Interment was at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation was Thursday, June 25 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the church, with a prayer service at 8 p.m.
Casket bearers were Jim Benzen, Kurt Pulkrabek, Pat Vorlicek, Dave Martin, Andy Vorlicek, and Curt Vorlicek.
The Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake served the family.
