Arvona Rolland (Houchin), age 62, of Rockford, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, at her home.
She was born July 21, 1946.
Arvona took much pride in her job as a correctional officer with Parkers Lake.
She loved being a mother, and flowers and gardening were her passions. She enjoyed collecting and shopping for treasures, and spending much time creating crafts for her loved ones.
Arvona is survived by her children: Cheryl (David) Heiskary, Faye Houchin, Roberta (Dan) Houchin, and Dawn (Nelson) Houchin; grandchildren: Ashia (Steve), Travis (Jessica), Kevin, Lashonda (Mike), Zach, Miranda, Kayla, Ashley, Justin, Daniel, Aaron, Taryn Samantha, and Jaeden “Tater;” great-grandchildren, Darrion, Donovan and Brian; a sister, Linda Devery; loving friends Terry Peterson, Jeremy Clark, and Allen Wirgau; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends, including Leroy Houchin.
A celebration of her life took place Wednesday Jan. 14 at 2 p.m. at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo, with a time of gathering one hour prior to the service.
