William L. Schalo Obituary – 8/29/09


William L. Schalo, age 79, of Corcoran, died accidently Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009.

He was born Jan. 14, 1930.

Bill was formerly employed at Gateway Foods for 36 years, and was a longtime member of Teamsters Local 120.

He was a faithful member of The Church of St. Thomas the Apostle in Corcoran, where he served as an usher and on the cemetery board.

Very active in the Corcoran Lions Club, Bill had served as a past president and was a Melvin Jones recipient. He was also a member of The Northland Oliver Collectors Club, Knights of Columbus Council 3758, and American Legion Post 394.

Bill is survived by his loving children, Jack (Marcia) Schalo, Jeffrey (Beverly) Schalo, Paula (Jeffrey) Lundeen, and Kris (Steven) Erickson; grandchildren Carrie (Chris) Friendschuh, Andrea (Eduardo) Arruda, Rachel (Terry) Galle, Laurel and Brooks Lundeen, and Matthew Ebeling; and great-grandchildren, Olivia, Emma, April, Abbi, and Lucas.

He is further survived by sisters and brother, Bernice Faue, Carrie Forsell, Barb (Dean) LaVine, and Richard “Dick” (Carolyn) Schalo; sister-in-law Janice (Dale) Kottke; brother-in-law Norbert Patnode; special friend Diane Nelson; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Charlotte M. Schalo; his parents, William and Lillie Schalo; a brother, Don; and a sister, Betty.

Mass of Christian Burial took place Thursday, Sept. 3 at 11 a.m. at the Parish Center of The Church of St. Thomas the Apostle in Corcoran. Interment was at St. Thomas Cemetery.

Visitation was Wednesday, Sept. 2 from 3 to 9 p.m. at the Parish Center, and continued Thursday one hour prior to Mass.

Arrangements were by the Peterson Chapel St. Michael-Albertville Funeral Home.
