Donald C. Schlechter Obituary – 6/7/09


Schlechter, Donald C. age 77 of New Germany, MN passed away on Sunday June 7, 2009 at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.

Mass of Christian Burial was Thursday June 11, 2009, 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown with Father Frank Wampach as celebrant of the Mass. Visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass with the final resting place St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Waconia.

Donald was born Oct. 10, 1931 in Minneapolis, the son of Peter and Anna (Schaefer) Schlechter.

Donald was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waconia. On Sept. 12, 1953 he was united in marriage to Elaine M. Koepp at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waconia by Father Kauer.

Donald loved traveling in his motorhome to many different locations. He enjoyed many different activities including; fishing, snowmobiling, camping and playing cards. Donald was a member of the Lumberman’s Who who club which he appreciated very much.

Donald is preceded in death by his parents Peter and Anna Schlechter; brother Paul Schlechter; sister and brother-in-law Dorothy and Ralph Kelzer; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law Paul Koepp, Robert and Auriela Koepp.

Donald is survived by his loving family; wife Elaine; sons and daughters-in-law Gary and Susan Schlechter of New Germany, Paul and Connie Schlechter of St. Bonifacius, Mark and Malinda Schlechte of Florida, Lisa Pexa and fiance Joseph Korus of Ramsey, Beth and John Weinzierl of Texas.

He is also survived by grandchildren Jamie and Melissa Schlechter, Bryan and Jamie Schlechter, Sherry Schlechter and special friend Nathan Roepke, Jason Schlechter, Shawna Schlechter and fiance Casey Smith, Holly Pexa, Jill Pexa, Nicole Pexa, Evan Weinzierl; great-grandchildren Paige Schlechter, Tylor Schlechter, Madelyn Schlechter, Dylan Schlechter, Shelby Smith.

He is further survived by sisters and brothers-in-law: Sister Rosaria Schlechter SLW of St. Paul, LaVerne and Jerome Kirsch of Victoria, Irene and Kenneth Siegle of Belle Plaine; brother and sister-in-law George and Diane Schlechter of Delano; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Robert and Muriel Koepp of Litchfield, Jon and Kathy Koepp of Litchfield, Ruth Ann Dinwittey of California, Randy Koepp of Texas, Diane Koepp of Correl; Nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Casket bearers were Jamie Schlechter, Bryan Schlechter, Sherry Schlechter, Holly Pexa, Jill Pexa, Evan Weinzierl.

Honorary Casket bearers Nicole Pexa, Paige Schlechter, Shawna Schlechter, Shelby Smith, Tylor Schlechter, Dylan and Madelyn Schlechter, Jason Schlechter, Melissa Schlechter and Jamie K. Schlechter.
