Dwain Oscar Stahlke, age 83, of Spring Park, formerly of Delano, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 29, 2009, joining his wife, Ruth, in their heavenly home.
He was born Jan. 4, 1926, to Gustave and Alice (Vahl) Stahlke in Waconia.
Dwain served in the military during World War II.
He was the founder of Stahlke Bus Service, and was a successful real estate developer.
Dwain wa a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his sons, Steve and Sue Stahlke, and Jim and Kay Stahlke; daughters Julie and Mel Bernick, and Beth and Len Logsdon; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Irene Stahlke, and Pauline Becker; and brother-in-law Bill and Kay Becker.
A memorial service took place Tuesday, May 5 at 11 a.m. at Light of Christ Lutheran Church in Delano with a gathering of family and friends preceding the service, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. The Revs. Lee Hallstrom and Eric Saxvik officiated, with inurnment in the East Mt. Olive Cemetery in Delano. Military honors were provided by the Delano American Legion Post 377.
Honorary bearers were Dwain’s grandchildren, Tina Donaldson, Angela Mhiripiri, Jay Bernick, Bryce Stahlke, Ashley Stahlke, Katherine Bernick, Benjamin Stahlke, and Matthew Stahlke.
Arrangements were by the Iten Funeral home in Delano.
