DeWayne J. “Chubby” Vick, age 82, of Delano, died Tuesday, June 16, 2009.
We want to celebrate the life and times of this special man.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place Tuesday, June 23 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church in Delano. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Delano.
Visitation is Monday, June 22 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Iten Funeral Home in Delano; and continues Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church, prior to Mass.
Arrangements are by the Iten Funeral Home in Delano.
DeWayne was born at home May 28, 1927, to Dewey and Esther Vick, in Lake Lillian.
He served in the Marine Corps as an MP during World War II.
DeWayne was boxing champion of 30 different islands in the Philippines, as well as Golden Gloves.
He worked for the University of Minnesota for many years, and was a member of the Brick Layers Union Local 2.
DeWayne was preceded in death by a daughter, Gayle; an infant child; his parents; siblings; and numerous friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Agnes; children David (Cindy), Carol Jean, Lonna Marjama, Doug, Dan (Karn), and Darin (Chauntel); 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; siblings LaVonne Christianson, Mary Dokken, Darrel (Pat) Vick, Dennis (Donna) Vick, Sandra Botsford, and Diane (Harold) Ross; as well as brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; and other family members.
